Project overview :
The Data for Health Initiative , funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, helps governments strengthen the collection and use of essential public health information. Since 2015, the Initiative has worked with more than 20 city governments and low- and middle-income countries to improve the quality of birth and death registration and improve the use of data for impact. maximum on policy development and priority setting. One component of the Data for Health Initiative is the Data Impact Program, which focuses on the use of data . Position sought:
Vital Strategies is looking for a consultant (full time) for 8 months based in Cameroon, for the activities that will take place in Cameroon within the framework of the CRVS program.
According to the priorities established by the Government focal points of the Initiative at the Ministry of Health, the National Bureau of Civil Status (BUNEC) and the National Institute of Statistics of Cameroon (INS), the activities of the program could , by way of example, include some of the following activities:

Job Description:
- Ensure technical coordination and liaison with the Initiative's focal points at the Ministry of Health, BUNEC and INS.
- Support the development of work plans, budgets and implementation plans for project activities.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly program reports and review financial reports.
- Assist in the organization of logistics and provide technical support for trainings, workshops, or webinars.
- Recruit local consultants for the implementation of projects.
- Provide regular updates on the implementation of project activities to the Data Impact program technical advisors at Vital Strategies.
- Assist in the collection of project monitoring and evaluation indicators
Required profile:
- Graduate degree in social sciences, law, public health or any other related field, master's degree in Public Health
- Experience of at least 5 years in the field of civil status registration in Cameroon
- Experience working in the government public health sector in Cameroon an asset
- Good knowledge of government agencies in Cameroon (MinSanté, INS, BUNEC)
- Have a professional network in public health in general and with government agencies in Cameroon (MinSanté, INS, BUNEC)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in French, oral and written at least intermediate skills in English
- Please note that the staff of our partners (MinSanté, INS, BUNEC) are not eligible for this position.

Workplace
The consultant will be based in the offices of the Ministry of Health in Yaoundé, Cameroon. As part of the Initiative, a laptop computer and software will be provided to the Consultant, which will be made available to him during his engagement hereunder. Upon expiration or termination of this Agreement, the Consultant must return the Laptop mentioned in this clause. All other equipment and supplies necessary for the performance of its functions under this Agreement will be provided by the Consultant at the expense of the Consultant.
