Description

SMART Approach is crucial for Law-Enforcement activities by an adaptive Management approach to Law enforcement there contributing to reduction of pressure. He or she will work closely with rangers to support planification of Patrols, downloading of data, in field communication through Garmin InReach, Feedback/develop intelligence and Reporting.

Location: Campo-Ma'an, Cameroon Duration: Six Months Main responsibilities: Specific tasks: 1) Help develop TORs patrol missions and put an operational mechanism in place to collect new Anti-Poaching data through SMART 2) Check the quality of field data & reports and notify the results to the Technical Advisor 3) Support in compiling data from any other domains related to Law enforcement activities.

4) Clean up past data in SMART and consolidate a new data base

5) Ensure communication between Rangers in the field and base is effective through the InReach System in the operational Control Room.

6) Extract all necessary information from SMART databases and make available to the Technical Advisor for Reporting

7) Read SMART reports and extract additional information needed for the evaluation of antipoaching patrol performance.

8) Help organizing meetings, training sessions, workshops, etc.

9) Provide other support to the Technical Advisor when necessary.

10) Support any other relevant AWF program in Campo-Ma'an

Requirements

Minimum MSc Degree in Law, Natural Resources Management, Conservation, Protected Area Management or related subjects. Proven experience in Law Enforcement monitoring tools and approach (SMART).

    • Familiarity with GIS analysis (particularly ArcGIS or QGIS).
    • Proven statistics and data analysis capacities (Excel, other relevant software).

 

  • Ability to manage databases; experience with managing files on Google Drive
  • Good communication skills - both written and verbal (English and French).
  • Good computer skills (MS Office package, Online researches, etc.), IT skills will be an asset.
  • Culturally aware and able to work effectively in various cultural environments. Capable of working with minimal supervision.
