Ashantene is a research and consulting company specializing in data, information, and economic intelligence on the African continent. We deliver reliable and privileged content to our customers. We focus on three main categories of content: Governments, Companies, and Influencers on the continent.

We gather important data and information and deliver it to our customers. Our content includes, but is not limited to investment guides, travel advisories, daily articles, private studies, and several different research projects regarding the current economic climate of Africa. All of this will be available on our web-based platform managed by Ashantene senior correspondents. In addition, our information is confidential.

Our main goal is to prepare our customers with the tools and advantages in setting them up for success when entering the African market.

The Role

Ashantene is hiring Research Interns on the ground in Cameroon who have excellent knowledge of their country, more specifically in the realms of geopolitics, business, and economics to join Ashantene Cameroonian Operation Team.

Your main duty will be to gather, review and analyze relevant data, to work on all research papers, articles, reports, and other relevant documents and manage content on our web-based platform on a daily basis.

Furthermore, the ideal candidate will be responsible for turning data into actionable insights by recognizing trends and anomalies in multivariate datasets. In order to use these insights for business improvement, this candidate should feel comfortable using their analysis to tell a story.

For this internship, you will be required to work remotely at least 30 hours per week. The internship can be combined with a research or personal development project while enrolled at an educational institution, but that is not mandatory.

Combining your current educational experience with relevant work experience in Ashantene will be highly beneficial and help set up all interns for success when emerging into the job market.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct fact-based research and analysis on Cameroon
  • Assist with publication of research commentaries and papers
  • Evaluate new and established research sources
  • Prepare materials that summarize data and draw conclusions to support key business discussions
  • Work with the Ashantene Cameroonian Operation Team on all relevant documents: articles, research papers, guides, studies, analyses and others
    • Exceptional command of written and spoken English is a MUST
    • Bachelor's degree or current masters' or bachelors' students in journalism, business, political sciences, economics, geography, or any related field
    • Good knowledge of the public affairs, business, and economic climate of Cameroon
    • Interest in the dynamics and inner workings of Cameroon
    • Good knowledge of the overall African geopolitical environment
    • Passionate for the development of the continent
    • Knowledge of SPSS or Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Effective communication skills
    • Solution focused
    • Flexible and willing to learn
    • Ability to work independently along with within a team in a fast-paced environment
    • Highly professional and discreet in managing sensitive information
    • Highly motivated to be a part of a new and fast-growing team
      • Report to the managers and CEOs regarding platform activity and daily operationsAbility to work with confidential material
