Overview of CTG:

Overview of the position:
- To supervise all Medical Waste Management staff & ensure that appropriate & safe practices are used in the handling, movement of solid waste & water waste as well as providing supervision to the concerned staff in a medical environment.
Role objective:
- To ensure that Team Leaders are enforcing with staff the most appropriate & safe methods of collecting, handling & disposing of a range of medical waste materials from the premises.
- To provide supervision & guidance to the Medical Waste Management Team Leaders / Waste Management Medical Team Leaders on best practice delivery of services in their specific areas.
- Monitor practices & ensure that any violations or unsafe practices are addressed & appropriate training arranged.
- Delegating tasks to the Team Leaders & ensuring that all staff are completing their work to the highest standards.
- Collating accurate medical waste management reports across all functions in liaison with the departments Team leaders.
Project reporting:
- This role reports to the Supervisor.
Team management:
- This role does not have any team management responsibility.
Education:
- Completion of Secondary School education.
Work experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of demonstrable relevant medical waste management or relevant experience.
Language:
- Excellent knowledge of English or French (depending on the country of assignment). Working knowledge of another UN official language would be an asset.
Other skills:
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office applications. Demonstrated computer skills with emphasis on construction & 3D software.

- Operationalisation of Technical Expertise: Applies specialised & detailed technical expertise to guide structural & operational interventions. Expert must understand & operate effectively in hazard emergency contexts, demonstrating knowledge of the international emergency response systems & disease outbreak environments.
- Communication: Expresses clearly in conversation & interaction with others. Produces effective written communications. Need strong communication & negotiation skills that can bring opposing opinions amongst a diverse array of stakeholders to an acceptable compromise.
Functional knowledge & skills:
- Excellent organisational & managerial skills with the ability to multitask, deliver results in time critical scenarios, identify & solve problems.
- Proven ability to ensure the effective use of resources.
- Demonstrated ability to work in multicultural, multidisciplinary environment.
- Thorough knowledge of WASH & IPC within outbreak contexts.
- Excellent organisational & analytical skills with the ability to coordinate activities & multitask.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to negotiate with & convince officials with tact & diplomacy.
