Job Overview/Summary: NRGI seeks to hire an Africa Regional Program Associate, to work with and support the Africa Regional Co-Director for Francophone Africa, and with special emphasis in helping with the support to the Francophone Africa Extractives Industries knowledge hub (FAEIKH) know in French as Centre d'Excellence pour la gouvernance des industries extractives en Afrique francophone (CEGIEAF)) located in Yaounde,Cameroon. These responsibilities include, but are not limted to assisting with project management, grants management and administraton; budget monitoring and reporting; research and analysis; capacity development and training; communication with partners and NRGI staff, prepare presentations and briefs on resource governance matters; and assit with the preparation of materials for high-level meetings, events and outreach activities. The Africa Program Associate will be located in Yaounde, Cameroon, with some flexibility to move to another location where NRGI is present.
Major responsibilities:
- Support the management of regional projects, including ensuring deadlines are met, budgets are adhered to, plans are effectively communicated, reports are produced on time, and project management tools are kept up to date;
- Provide support to solicit, edit and evaluate grant proposals, including providing follow-up with grantees and potential grantees, review grantees report;
- Monitor current developments in extractive industries in the region, compile and synthesize news and information on extractives in the regin on a regular basis and circulate to staff as appropriate;
- Prepare activities report for the organization and donors
- Attend events needed and prepare summaries
- Write briefing memos; reports on fourms, symposia, and conferences; Provide logistical support to coordinate NRGI sponsored meetings, conferences and workshops;l
- Provide general administrative support to the Director, including but not limited to preparing expense reports, assisting with outgoing correspondence, proofreading and editing, maintaining a filing system
Other specific responsibilities related to the FAEIKH
- Support the organization summer school
- support the organization's multi-stakeholders platform and conferences;
- support the monitoring, evaluation and learning hub program
- Follow up with the hub alumni and produce memos on post-training acheivement ;
- Support the implementation of the mentoring program
- The responsibilities of this role are subject to modifications as required by the needs of the organization.

Job requirements .
Demonstrated Knowledge and Experience
- At least 3-5 years of relevant professional experience
- Proven knowledge and expertise in Africa issues and familiarity with the natural resource government issues and movement;
- Experience working with key stakeholders inteh region, including civil society, media, parliamentarian, companies, private sector or government
- Experience in projects management
- Experience and competence to undertake research assignments with modest supervision
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent research and analytical skills;
- Excellent Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Works well under pressure to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-pace work environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in English and French

Education
- University degree in social science, economics, law, development studies to Master's level

Working Environment: Full-time position, official hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; flexibility required when extended hours are needed to meet deliverables.
